Blog #24: ISYS100 MUSIC VLOG

When our group was workshopping ideas for our vlog, we were trying to find ways to encapsulate our theme- music. And what better way to achieve this than a karaoke session! It doesn't matter what genre you listen to, or your cultural background, or whether you can play an instrument. Music can, in many ways, bring people together and be extremely meaningful. Most importantly, it can be loads of fun! In light of this, our group headed to Mizuya- a popular Japanese karaoke destination in the city- to film our vlog. We were able to sing songs from each group members' favourite genres- movie sound tracks, rock music, KPOP etc. We channeled our inner Mariah Carey, and belted our hearts out- even if it didn't sound the greatest hahaha.

Safal, one of our group members, brought his camera and microphone to record the vlog. He was also responsible for the editing of the footage, as he had the software for it. However, other group members contributed clips to the vlog by capturing their movements to the karaoke bar. This was recorded on their phones and sent to Safal for editing. Each group member also had a chance at being behind the camera. As for the content, all members- Vincent, Safal, Wendy, Antoinette and Tiffany- were recorded singing :).

Overall, our group enjoyed making this vlog and it was a great bonding experience.

BLOG #23 : Seasonal and Festival Songs of Nepal

TEEJ SONGS There is a special festival for the women in Nepal where they fast for their husband's good health and long life. It is celebrated once every year around end of August when Monsoon season in Nepal is nearly finished. Usually married women are invited to her father and mother's house where she will be treated as special guest and lots of dishes are prepared for her before the day of fasting and these special dishes are known as "DAR". There is a special kind of songs which are played and sung by ladies whole day of fasting while dancing as well. It is composed in usually similar folk tunes. Blog #19: Soundtrack in Baby Driver

Soundtrack in Baby Driver Baby Driver was released on 28 June 2017, the plot of the movie follows Baby a getaway driver working for a crime boss. The sequences of the movie follows Baby and most of the soundtrack is diagetic score meaning what the characters in the movie listen to, in this case it is the protagonist, Baby. Edgar Wright, the director cites it as a musical with a mix of crime, action, music and sound. The soundtrack in Baby Driver follows Baby's mood as what he experiences such as suspense, love and sadness. The film is well known for its feature in choreography with the soundtrack, the actors' timing and movements are synced with the soundtrack as synonymous with the "opening scene" and the "second scene." Edgar Wright notes that when he first listened to "Jon Spencer Blues Explosion" he had thought of a car chase in mind. He has also featured several blue explosion songs in Hot Fuzz.
