BLOG #10: INDIGENOUS MUSIC OF NEPAL





In this blog i would like to write about the different musical instruments and music genres of different cultural ethnicity in Nepal with its values and importance. In this particular blog i would like to give a general introduction about Music of Nepal.

Nepal is a very small landlocked country bordering with China and India ,with around 29 million people living in the country with more than 50 different races and tribes with diverse music. Nepalese music has very important values within its culture and community. Nepalese musical instruments plays an important role to its culture and society. In every festival and rituals these instrument play a vital part and being played. Historically found facts believes that 200 musical instruments are there but only 100 of them have been discovered till date. 

The rhythm, beats, bounce of Nepali traditional folk and classical music is spiritual enough to sooth you and entertaining enough to cheer you. Music is associated with every event in Nepal, then be it birth, marriage, festivals or National Events.



Various songs, musical instruments and dances are connected with various religious, social and cultural life of the Nepalese. The main genres of Nepali music are pop, rock, folk and classical. There are number of genres that are yet to be cataloged.

Blog #5: Introduction to Rock Music

The rock music genre originated in the United States during the mid 1950s, and has since increased in popularity throughout the world. It's style draws upon the African American genres of blues, rhythm, and country music. As a result of expansion, the genre has further split into sub-genres, such as alternative rock and heavy metal, and incorporated other musical influences e.g. jazz classical. A rock band is typically centred around the use of an electric guitar, as well as an electric bass guitar, drums and one or more singers. Blog #19: Soundtrack in Baby Driver

Soundtrack in Baby Driver  Baby Driver was released on 28 June 2017, the plot of the movie follows Baby a getaway driver working for a crime boss. The sequences of the movie follows Baby and most of the soundtrack is diagetic score meaning what the characters in the movie listen to, in this case it is the protagonist, Baby. Edgar Wright, the director cites it as a musical with a mix of crime, action, music and sound. The soundtrack in Baby Driver follows Baby's mood as what he experiences such as suspense, love and sadness.  The film is well known for its feature in choreography with the soundtrack, the actors' timing and movements are synced with the soundtrack as synonymous with the "opening scene" and the "second scene." Edgar Wright notes that when he first listened to "Jon Spencer Blues Explosion" he had thought of a car chase in mind.
