Blog #16: Miscellaneous rock music

The 1975 and Coldplay are without a doubt my favourite rock bands. However, there are many other groups with great music that I enjoy listening to. They may all be from different eras, and have distinct aesthetics and sounds, but I find that share similar traits - relatable/ deep and meaningful song lyrics and infectious melodies.

Panic! At The Disco

Panic! At The Disco originated from Las Vegas In America, in 2004. Over the past few years, the band has reduced in numbers- either leaving the group for good or returning for a short period of time. Brendon Urie is the only original member as of now in the band, however he is currently touring with three other members: Dallon Weekes, Kenneth Harris and Dan Pawlovich. Some of my favourite songs by them are;

BTS , also known as Bangtan Boys, is a seven-member South Korea boy band formed by Big Hit Entertainment. BIGBANG No, not the Big Bang Theory but a South Korean idol group formed under YG Entertainment, called BIGBANG that consist of 5 members: G-Dragon (Kwon Ji Yong) Leader, Main Rapper, Vocalist and Face of the Group T.O.P (Choi Seung-hyun) Lead Rapper, Vocalist and Visual Taeyang (Dong Yong Bae) Main Vocalist and Main Dancer Daesung (Kang Daesung) Lead Vocalist Seungri (Lee Seung Hyun) Lead Dancer, Vocalist and Maknae (Youngest in the group) A group that has gained the honorific title "Kings of Kpop", as they are often cited to be one of the most influential acts to shape the Kpop industry, helping spread the Korean Wave internationally. Blog #24: ISYS100 MUSIC VLOG

When our group was workshopping ideas for our vlog, we were trying to find ways to encapsulate our theme- music. And what better way to achieve this than a karaoke session! It doesn't matter what genre you listen to, or your cultural background, or whether you can play an instrument. Music can, in many ways, bring people together and be extremely meaningful. Most importantly, it can be loads of fun! In light of this, our group headed to Mizuya- a popular Japanese karaoke destination in the city- to film our vlog. We were able to sing songs from each group members' favourite genres- movie sound tracks, rock music, KPOP etc. We channeled our inner Mariah Carey, and belted our hearts out- even if it didn't sound the greatest hahaha.
