Blog #16: Miscellaneous rock music

The 1975 and Coldplay are without a doubt my favourite rock bands. However, there are many other groups with great music that I enjoy listening to. They may all be from different eras, and have distinct aesthetics and sounds, but I find that share similar traits - relatable/ deep and meaningful song lyrics and infectious melodies.

Paramore

Paramore is a rock band originating from Tennessee in America. Some of my favourite tracks range from their old music, through to their most recent ones from their current album promoted this year. These include:

  • That's What You Get
  • Hard Times
  • Still Into You
  • 26
  • Ain't It Fun
  • Ignorance
  • Told You So

Arctic Monkeys

The Arctic Monkeys are a British rock group that have been together since 2002. Some of my favourite songs by them include:
  • Do I Wanna Know?
  • Arabella
  • Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?
  • R U Mine
  • Snap Out Of It

 Panic! At The Disco

Panic! At The Disco originated from Las Vegas In America, in 2004. Over the past few years, the band has reduced in numbers- either leaving the group for good or returning for a short period of time.  Brendon Urie is the only original member as of now in the band, however he is currently touring with three other members: Dallon Weekes, Kenneth Harris and Dan Pawlovich.  Some of my favourite songs by them are;

  • I Write Sins Not Tragedies
  • The Ballad Of Mona Lisa
  • Death Of A Bachelor
  • Nine In The Afternoon
  • Ready To Go

Blog #19: Soundtrack in Baby Driver

Soundtrack in Baby Driver  Baby Driver was released on 28 June 2017, the plot of the movie follows Baby a getaway driver working for a crime boss. The sequences of the movie follows Baby and most of the soundtrack is diagetic score meaning what the characters in the movie listen to, in this case it is the protagonist, Baby. Edgar Wright, the director cites it as a musical with a mix of crime, action, music and sound. The soundtrack in Baby Driver follows Baby's mood as what he experiences such as suspense, love and sadness.  The film is well known for its feature in choreography with the soundtrack, the actors' timing and movements are synced with the soundtrack as synonymous with the "opening scene" and the "second scene."
