When our group was workshopping ideas for our vlog, we were trying to find ways to encapsulate our theme- music. And what better way to achieve this than a karaoke session! It doesn't matter what genre you listen to, or your cultural background, or whether you can play an instrument. Music can, in many ways, bring people together and be extremely meaningful. Most importantly, it can be loads of fun! In light of this, our group headed to Mizuya- a popular Japanese karaoke destination in the city- to film our vlog. We were able to sing songs from each group members' favourite genres- movie sound tracks, rock music, KPOP etc. We channeled our inner Mariah Carey, and belted our hearts out- even if it didn't sound the greatest hahaha. Safal, one of our group members, brought his camera and microphone to record the vlog. He was also responsible for the editing of the footage, as he had the software for it. TEEJ SONGS There is a special festival for the women in Nepal where they fast for their husband's good health and long life. It is celebrated once every year around end of August when Monsoon season in Nepal is nearly finished. Usually married women are invited to her father and mother's house where she will be treated as special guest and lots of dishes are prepared for her before the day of fasting and these special dishes are known as "DAR". There is a special kind of songs which are played and sung by ladies whole day of fasting while dancing as well. It is composed in usually similar folk tunes.
